The RSPCA is appealing for witnesses after a small dog was reportedly beaten in Jeffrey Square, Blackpool. The incident took place at approximately 7:00 PM on 24 February 2026, when a man was seen stopping to attack the animal.

Witnesses reported that a tall man wearing dark clothing and white trainers stopped to kick the dog several times in the stomach. The small brown dog, which is believed to be a Chihuahua, was then slapped with the man’s left hand before he walked away from the area.

The Blackpool Council Dog Warden Team originally received the report and has since identified a second similar attack on the same dog nearby at Thornber Grove. The suspect is described as tall and appears to be bald or has a shaven head.

Inspector Kelly Nix is leading the investigation and is urging residents in the FY1 area to check their doorbell cameras or private CCTV for any helpful footage from the evening of the incident. Anyone with information about the identity of the owner or the events in Jeffrey Square should contact the confidential hotline on 0300 1238018, using the reference number 01742894.

The UK Animal Cruelty Files has also shared the appeal to help protect animals in the local community. This local investigation follows a national trend that saw animal cruelty reports across England and Wales rise by one-third during the summer of 2024 compared to the previous year.
