Adswood Young People’s Centre in Stockport, Greater Manchester, will reopen on Saturday 7 March 2026 after workers finished essential repairs to the building’s roof. The facility on Neston Grove had been closed since 9 January 2026 due to safety concerns, which forced local families to use temporary spaces at nearby schools during the work.

The reopening is a joint project between Stockport Council and local organisations Autisk and Parents and Carers Together Stockport, also known as PACTS. This move means that the Play Zone family drop-in and specialist short breaks will return to the site this weekend.

Council officials were reportedly warned about the deteriorating condition of the roof about 18 months before the closure in January. Despite a projected budget gap of £60 million for the local authority by 2029, the council prioritised these repairs to restore services for children with special educational needs.

The centre is also set to host Holiday Activities and Food sessions for the community during the upcoming Easter holidays. While the building is safe to use again, the council and its partners say they are still working on a long-term plan to keep the centre running for residents in the future.
