Two men have been sent to prison after an investigation into a drug supply network in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, led to the discovery of cocaine worth nearly £15,000. Daniel Summers and William Innes were caught by officers during a vehicle stop in December 2025, which eventually revealed a larger operation involving multiple locations.

According to Essex Police, the pair were inside a Mercedes A-Class on Shoebury Road on 18 December 2025 when they were stopped. Officers found three packages of cocaine which had a combined street value of about £14,700.

The investigation led officers to search a home on Chinchilla Road and a hotel room in nearby Rayleigh. These searches helped the specialist crime unit find equipment used to sell the drugs and discover how the pair were using local buildings to run their operation.

Summers, who is 34, was sentenced to 35 months in prison on 3 March 2026 at Basildon Crown Court. Innes, aged 33, was sentenced to four years in prison at the same court on 11 February 2026.

This case was one of more than 460 arrests made by the serious and organised crime unit in 2025. Local officials hope the removal of these dealers will help reduce anti-social behaviour and provide reassurance to residents and shop owners in the town centre.
