Residents in Telford, Shropshire, can get free employment advice this week as a special careers bus visits local community centres. Organised by Telford & Wrekin Council, the roadshow is stopping at Brookside and Woodside to help people find work or start new training.

The bus will visit the Brookside Central Community Centre on Wednesday, 4 March 2026, between 2pm and 4pm. It will then stop at the Park Lane Centre in Woodside on Thursday, 5 March 2026, from 10am to 12pm. Residents do not need to make an appointment and can simply drop in at a time that suits them.

Advisers from the council’s Telford Job Box service will be available to help with writing CVs and job applications. The team is also offering information on training opportunities, specifically for people interested in working in the health or utilities sectors, such as care work or jobs in the water and energy industries.

This event is part of National Careers Week 2026, which runs from 2 March to 7 March with the theme of helping people take control of their own future. Councillor Shirley Reynolds, who is responsible for employment and skills at the council, is overseeing the initiative to bring services directly into local neighbourhoods.

The roadshow also acts as a warm-up for the larger Telford Skills Show, which takes place on 19 March 2026 at the Telford International Centre. By visiting local community hubs, the council hopes to reach people who might find it difficult to travel to the main town centre for support.
