Wood Avenue Library in Folkestone, Kent, will close for four days from Monday 23 March to Thursday 26 March 2026 for planned building maintenance. This closure means residents will be unable to borrow books, use computers, or hire rooms at the branch until it reopens on Friday morning.
The temporary closure will also affect regular weekly activities, such as the Playground creative play for infants and the Baby Rhyme Time group. According to the Wood Avenue Library, normal services and Saturday clubs are expected to resume as usual once the maintenance work is completed.
This branch has been operating with temporary extended opening hours to support the community while the town’s main library remains closed. These extra hours will continue to stay in place on all other days until further notice to ensure residents can still access library services.
Work is currently continuing on a new permanent library building at 14 Sandgate Road, which Kent County Council expects to open in spring 2026. A final opening date for the new town centre facility is likely to be announced by the end of April.
