Residents in Swadlincote, Derbyshire, should prepare for a change in the weather as sunny skies make way for mist, rain, and strong winds starting Friday, 6 March 2026.

According to the Met Office, the area will see a shift to overcast conditions and light rain that is expected to last until Wednesday, 11 March 2026. This move toward duller weather is likely to disrupt outdoor plans and weekend activities.

Wind speeds are predicted to rise steadily throughout the week, starting at 18mph and reaching peaks of 28mph by mid-week. These blustery conditions may make travel more difficult, particularly for those driving on open or exposed roads.

The regional outlook for the East Midlands also warns of widespread low clouds and fog over the weekend of 7-8 March 2026. The predicted damp and grey conditions follow a trend of unsettled weather across the region during the early part of the year.
