A 36-year-old man from Basingstoke, Hampshire, has been sentenced to 12 weeks in prison after carrying out a campaign of stalking and intimidation against a woman. Carl Gonzalez, of James Road, was sentenced at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on 26 February 2026 and given a five-year restraining order to stop him from contacting the victim.

The stalking behaviour happened between December 2025 and January 2026, involving Gonzalez following the victim by car and entering her home without permission. This case was handled by the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary, with Police Staff Investigator Daniel Stockley stating that officers take such reports “incredibly seriously.”

Police and local services in the region use the Hampshire Multi-Agency Stalking Partnership to deal with these types of crimes. This group brings together different organisations, including the NHS and probation services, to help stop stalking and support those affected by it in the local area.
