A 36-year-old man from St Georges in Telford, Shropshire, has been sentenced to 28 months in prison for committing 50 shoplifting offences and assaulting a police officer. Nathan Price received the sentence at Shrewsbury Crown Court on 5 March 2026 after pleading guilty to the charges.
The court heard that Price targeted several stores across the town between April 2025 and August 2025. During this five-month period, he stole approximately £2,140 worth of goods, including meat, alcohol, dog food, and clothing.
Price was arrested on 14 August 2025, at which point he assaulted an emergency worker and a member of the public. He has remained in custody since his arrest and will now serve a prison sentence for his actions.
According to West Mercia Police, the court also issued a five-year Criminal Behaviour Order which runs until March 2031. This order bans Price from entering specific retail locations in the area, including branches of Co-op, ASDA, and Greggs.
Sergeant Rich Jones from the local policing team explained that the sentence aims to protect the community and local businesses from repeat crime. The police focus remains on ensuring the safety of shop staff and the public while dealing with persistent offenders.
