Watford residents can share their views on the future of the River Colne at a community meeting taking place in the town this week. The Spring River Colne Coffee Evening is set for 11 March 2026 at the Pump House Theatre & Arts Centre in Watford, Hertfordshire.

The event is hosted by Groundwork East and will provide neighbours with updates on local river projects. It is designed as a relaxed session where people can also find out about different volunteer opportunities to help look after the waterway.

The meeting follows long-standing local concerns regarding the health of the river. According to the Colne Valley Regional Park, previous studies have identified hundreds of micro-pollutants and hazardous chemicals in the water, which are often connected to storm sewage overflows.

Organisers are encouraging anyone who cares about the river environment to attend and offer their input on future conservation efforts. The evening is part of ongoing work to improve water quality and protect the natural habitat for the community.
