The Peterborough Youth Hub is celebrating its first few months of supporting local people with training and employment from its base at the Weston Homes Stadium in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. Since the service launched in November 2025, it has already engaged 73 young residents aged 16 to 24 find their footing in the workforce.

The project was created to address high levels of young people who are currently out of work and not in school or training. In Peterborough, this group makes up 5.4 per cent of the 16-24 age group, which is nearly double the average of 3.4 per cent across the rest of the region.

According to the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority, 37 young people are now receiving intensive one-to-one mentoring through personal learning plans. These individual sessions are designed to help residents bridge the gap between finishing school and starting a long-term career.

Mayor Paul Bristow said the priority of the hub is to give young people the best possible start in life by helping them secure a job. The facility is run in partnership with the Peterborough United Foundation, offering a welcoming space where anyone can walk in to get help with their future.

Hub manager Dean Watson and his team oversee the daily mentoring and support as part of a national pilot scheme. The hub aims to continue acting as a one-stop shop for local careers and skills training throughout 2026.
