Violence and sexual offences were the most commonly reported crimes in the rural north of Colchester, Essex, during January 2026. According to the latest figures from Essex Police, officers recorded 40 incidents of this type throughout the month.

There were 107 total crimes reported across the area during the first month of the year. This means that violence and sexual offences made up more than 37 per cent of all local police activity recorded during that period.

The total number of crimes in January was lower than several months in 2025, such as October when 142 reports were made. These regular updates are provided to help residents understand safety concerns and help the community set its own policing priorities.

Other reports in the area during January 2026 included 11 cases of burglary and 11 reports of other types of theft. Local policing teams use these figures to focus on community engagement and ways to prevent crime in the rural north district.
