A new youth club called Gunny Youth is launching on Canvey Island, Essex, in April 2026 to provide a safe space for children and teenagers. The project is a joint effort between Trust Links and the Canvey Island Youth Project, offering free activities for young people aged between 8 and 16.

Sessions will take place every Thursday from 5pm to 7pm at The Gunny, located on West Crescent, SS8 9HU. Local families will have access to a variety of supervised sessions designed to help children socialise and learn new skills in their own community.

The club plans to offer a wide range of activities including sports, crafts, cooking, and games. These sessions are intended to support the mental health and wellbeing of local youth while providing a supportive environment to build friendships.

According to information released by the organisers, the initiative combines the experience of both charities to create a dedicated resource for the area. The project aims to give younger children a place to go after school where they can engage in constructive and fun hobbies.
