Most library and archive services in York, North Yorkshire, will close over the 2026 Easter bank holiday weekend, though some facilities will stay open for the public. Explore York Libraries and Archives has confirmed that all branches and most cafes will be shut on Good Friday (3 April), Easter Sunday (5 April), and Easter Monday (6 April).

On Saturday, 4 April 2026, most library branches, cafes, and the archives reading room will open as they usually do. Local users should be aware that New Earswick Library is the only branch that will remain closed on that Saturday.

The Rowntree Park Reading Café is the only facility run by the group that will keep its normal opening hours throughout the entire holiday weekend. This includes being open on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, and Easter Monday when other sites are closed.

Normal services across all sites will resume on Tuesday, 7 April 2026. Residents are encouraged to check individual site details if they need specific services during the holiday period.
