Devon & Cornwall Police arrested five people and recovered a stolen car during a road safety crackdown across Teignbridge, South Hams, and Torbay on Saturday 7 March 2026. The operation involved several police teams working together to stop illegal driving and make the roads safer for the community.

Officers arrested two people for drink driving and three others for drug driving during the checks. Two of the people arrested for drug driving had initially failed to stop when officers tried to pull them over.

Along with the arrests, the police recovered a stolen vehicle and identified five people driving without a valid licence. Three other vehicles were also identified as having no insurance.

Inspector Wes Watkins said the effort is part of a plan to improve safety and reduce serious accidents on local roads throughout 2026. Officers used breath tests and drug wipes to catch drivers who were breaking the law.
