The Gentoo Group is asking residents in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear, for their views on a new proposal to build 49 affordable homes. The project is planned for land south of Great Lime Road in Hetton-le-Hole.

The development would include a mix of two-bedroom bungalows and family houses with two, three, or four bedrooms. These homes are designed to fit in with the local area and provide more social housing options for the community.

An in-person event will be held on 17 March 2026 at the Eppleton Cricket Club so neighbours can look at the designs and ask questions. Residents can also provide feedback online until the consultation closes on 31 March 2026.

Joanne Gordon Homes and Development Director at Gento said the project will help meet local housing needs and supports the Sunderland City Council target of building at least 13,410 new homes by 2033. This city-wide goal aims to ensure there is enough housing for everyone in the coming years.

Following the public consultation, a formal planning application is expected to be submitted to the council in the summer of 2026.
