Dr Raman Uberoi, a specialist doctor at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, Oxfordshire, has been honoured with a prestigious international award for his work in medical imaging and surgery. The recognition marks a significant achievement for the local medical community and highlights the expertise available within the city’s hospitals.

On 10 March 2026, Oxford University Hospitals announced that Dr Uberoi received the Gold Medal from the Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe. This award is the highest honour given by the society and is reserved for individuals who have made a major and lasting contribution to the field of image-guided medicine.

As a consultant interventional radiologist, Dr Uberoi uses advanced scans to perform precise, minimally invasive procedures on patients. This type of medicine allows doctors to treat diseases in almost any part of the body by using images to guide their tools, which often results in quicker recovery times for patients compared to traditional surgery.

Dr Uberoi has a long history of leadership in his field, having previously served as the Medical Director for Professional Practice, Clinical Radiology at The Royal College of Radiologists. He has been a frequent contributor to international medical research and previously delivered a high-profile lecture for the European society in 2023.

The organisation that issued the medal is a non-profit group dedicated to improving patient care through the study and practice of image-guided medicine. This recognition of a local doctor’s work helps to demonstrate the high medical standards provided at the John Radcliffe Hospital.
