Charters Bar in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, is opening its riverside beer garden for the spring season on Saturday 14 March 2026. The launch event starts at 2pm and features an afternoon of music to welcome residents back to the outdoor social space near the Town Bridge.

The venue is a well-known local landmark because it is housed on a historic Dutch barge that was brought to the city in the late 1980s. It is permanently moored on the River Nene and is widely recognised for having the largest beer garden in the city.

To mark the opening, an event called Eclectic Ballroom will take place with DJs playing a mix of disco, funk, soul, house, and hip hop music. Entry to the barge and the garden area is free for all visitors throughout the afternoon.

According to Visit Peterborough, the bar is known for its wide selection of real ales and its unique setting on the water. The reopening of the outdoor area is expected to bring more people to the riverside as the weather begins to improve for the spring months.
