A student singing group from Durham University in County Durham has won the UK finals of the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella for the fourth year in a row in March 2026. The Northern Lights A Cappella ensemble secured the top spot after previously winning the national title in 2023, 2024, and 2025.

This group of student performers made history in 2025 when they placed third at the world finals of the competition. This was the first time a mixed-voice group from the United Kingdom had ever finished in the top three at the global event.

The vocal group was first started in 2013 and is run entirely by students who perform using only their voices instead of musical instruments. Beyond their competition success, the group is a regular part of the local community and often performs at weddings, balls, and corporate events throughout the North East of England.
