The Roman and Medieval Festival will bring history to life at Lower Castle Park in Colchester, Essex, on 6 June and 7 June 2026. This community event allows residents to explore the city’s heritage through historical re-enactments and family activities.

Visitors can expect to see displays of fighting skills and traditional cooking from the Roman, Viking, and Medieval periods. According to Visit Colchester, the weekend will also feature living history camps and a local craft and treasure market.

The event is a joint effort between the Roman Festival and the Colchester Medieval Oyster Fayre. Event company Food and Drink Festivals UK is working to put on the display in the city park, continuing the legacy of long-time organiser Don Quinn, who retired in 2025.

Tickets for the festival are priced at £10.00 for adults. Children under the age of 16 can enter the festival free of charge.
