Residents in Northampton, Northamptonshire, are facing a day of high winds and heavy rain on 12 March 2026 as a storm system moves across the region. The Met Office has predicted gusts of up to 47 mph, which are expected to impact travel and outdoor plans throughout the afternoon and evening.

The weather is set to become increasingly unsettled from mid-afternoon, with showers turning more frequent across the town. A band of heavy rain is then expected to move south, reaching northern parts of the region by dusk before moving into the Northampton area later in the evening, bringing much stronger wind gusts.

Forecasters say there is a very high chance of rain, over 95 per cent, starting from 9:00 PM tonight. This heavy and gusty weather is predicted to continue for several hours until the rain band clears to the south by midnight.

This local forecast follows a wider pattern of windy weather affecting the East Midlands today. People in the community are advised to prepare for blustery conditions and sudden heavy showers that could disrupt daytime travel and outdoor activities.
