Durham Cathedral in County Durham has announced its programme for Holy Week and Easter 2026, which begins on Palm Sunday, 29 March 2026. This period is the most significant week in the Christian calendar and focuses on the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

The week includes a procession on Palm Sunday and a performance of the St John Passion by the cathedral choir and The Avison Ensemble. On Good Friday, the church will hold a Three Hours service for prayer and reflection.

The celebrations conclude with the Easter Day Dawn Eucharist on 5 April 2026. This service will involve traditional worship and will also feature baptism and confirmation ceremonies for the community.

The church has also organised Easter holiday activities alongside the main services. These events aim to bring the local community together during the most important week of the religious year.
