Two men have been charged following a house break-in in Handforth and a car theft in Wilmslow, as part of a crackdown on local property crime. Cheshire Police confirmed the charges against Louie Mellor, 21, and William Hassel, 25, following reports of a burglary at a home on Marthall Way and the theft of a luxury car.

The burglary took place at a residential address on Marthall Way in Handforth on Tuesday, March 10, 2026. This followed a separate incident where a BMW M-Sport car was stolen from Daveylands in Wilmslow on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

Mellor, of Bath Road, Buxton, has been charged with burglary dwelling and theft, and theft of a motor vehicle. Hassel, of Lullington Close, Manchester, faces the same charges, as well as additional counts of driving without insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence. Both men were scheduled to appear before Chester Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, March 11, 2026.

The arrests are part of ongoing work by officers in the Macclesfield area to tackle property crime and vehicle thefts. Local police provide these updates to keep residents informed about safety and efforts to stop crime in the region.
