Residents in Basildon, Essex, can look forward to a break from recent chilly conditions as the weather is set to turn milder and drier from the middle of next week. The change follows a period of typical March volatility that has brought frost and rain to the local area.

As of 14 March 2026, the region is still dealing with windy spells and fluctuating temperatures. However, this unsettled pattern is expected to give way to more pleasant spring conditions starting around Wednesday, 18 March 2026.

According to the Met Office, temperatures will stay around average for a few days before turning drier and warmer from mid-week onwards. The national weather service predicts that a more stable pattern will establish itself across the East of England during the latter half of the week.

This shift will provide a reprieve from the recent frost and rain that has characterised the start of the month. Locals can expect a transition to more settled weather, marking a noticeable improvement from the cold start to the spring season.
