North Yorkshire Police have arrested four people after a gun was fired at a parked car in the Tang Hall area of York, North Yorkshire. The incident took place at around 9:25 pm on 7 March 2026 on Starkey Crescent.

No one was injured during the shooting because the car was empty at the time. Officers believe the event was a targeted attack and have told neighbours there is no wider threat to the local community.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on 12 March 2026 on suspicion of possessing a firearm without a certificate and causing criminal damage. Three other people, including a 34-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 29-year-old woman, were also arrested and have been released on bail.

Local neighbourhood officers have increased their patrols in the area to speak with residents and offer reassurance while the investigation continues. The police are continuing to look into the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
