Oxford City Council announced on 18 March 2026 that it is opening a new in-person service centre at 15-17 George Street in Oxford, Oxfordshire. The dedicated facility is being set up to provide residents with direct, face-to-face access to council staff and support services.

The new site will replace the existing service currently based at the Westgate Library, which has limited space. By moving to the larger George Street building, the council will increase its homelessness prevention support from two days a week to five days a week.

According to Oxford City Council, the move is expected to save £150,000 every year. These savings will come from helping people earlier and reducing the need for costly emergency housing placements.

The service centre is expected to open in the spring of 2026. Councillor Nigel Chapman, the Cabinet member for Citizen Focused Services and Council Companies, said the new facility will bring customer service teams and homelessness support together in one central location.
