Residents in Thorpe St Andrew, Norfolk, are being warned to prepare for overnight frost and ice starting Thursday, 26 March 2026, as a sudden cold snap follows a brief spell of warm spring weather.

On Wednesday, 25 March, the area experienced blustery conditions with wind gusts reaching up to 41mph and heavy showers. While the actual high was 9°C, the Met Office reported that the wind chill made it feel several degrees colder throughout the day.

Clear skies on Wednesday night are expected to lead to a chilly start on Thursday, with temperatures dipping to 1°C. Forecasters say it will feel as cold as -2°C in some parts of the community, with frost likely to form on untreated surfaces by dawn.

The change in weather comes after the UK recorded its warmest day of 2026 so far last week, reaching 20.9°C. Steven Keates, a deputy chief forecaster at the Met Office, said that although actual temperatures will range from 6°C to 10°C, the wind will keep conditions feeling very cold.

This unsettled pattern is set to continue with sunny intervals and scattered showers through to Saturday. However, weather experts predict temperatures will recover to around 16°C by Tuesday, 31 March 2026.
