Alan Robertson has started as the new neighbourhood policing officer for Central Southsea and St Judes in Portsmouth, Hampshire, as of March 2026. He replaces PC Ferguson and joins PC Wade Hicks to serve the local community of 28,056 residents. The change was confirmed by Hampshire Alert as part of an effort to keep police officers visible on local streets.

The “Local Bobby” scheme was first launched in 2024 by Police and Crime Commissioner Donna Jones. It is designed to give every neighbourhood a named officer with a direct phone number so residents can flag ongoing issues like antisocial behaviour. These officers are dedicated to their specific patches and are not pulled away to work in other areas.

Residents can contact Robertson directly on 07392314400 to raise concerns about their neighbourhood. This direct link is intended to help the police gather better information and tackle crime in busy spots like Albert Road and Palmerston Road. According to UKCrimeStats, there were 285 crimes recorded in the area during January 2026.

The Portsmouth district is currently led by Chief Inspector Sarah Nicholson, who has served with the force for 23 years. The wider Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary is overseen by Chief Constable Alexis Boon. This team structure is part of a plan to ensure residents always have a consistent point of contact for safety issues in their community.
