Residents in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, are invited to help clean up the town centre during a community litter pick on Saturday, 28 March 2026. The event will take place in Market Street from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM to help improve the local environment for the spring season.

The Wellingborough Eco Group is hosting the session alongside Wellingborough Town Council. This local effort is part of the Great British Spring Clean, a national campaign run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy that runs until 29 March 2026.

The Wellie Wombles volunteer group will also be on hand to assist people during the two-hour tidy up. This group was started in February 2021 by Freddie and Georgina Harris and now has more than 1,000 members who regularly help keep the town clean.

Organisers will provide all necessary equipment including litter pickers, waste bags, and high-visibility vests. People of all ages are welcome to join in for any amount of time, though volunteers are encouraged to bring their own gloves if they have them.

Previous clean-up events in the town have seen significant results, such as in 2024 when volunteers collected nearly 40 full bags of rubbish. These monthly sessions originally began in September 2019 to encourage residents to take pride in their local community.
