Blackpool Community Radio in Blackpool, Lancashire, is looking for local people to become presenters as it moves from being an online-only station to broadcasting on digital radio. This expansion means the station can now reach an estimated 260,000 residents across Blackpool, Wyre, and the Fylde Coast area.

The station is joining the digital radio network run by Fun Coast Digital, which broadcasts from a transmitter at the top of Blackpool Tower. This network first launched on 1 September 2022 and has the capacity to host up to 28 different community stations at once.

New volunteers do not need previous experience as the station provides full training and the use of all necessary broadcasting equipment. Interested residents can get in touch by calling 01253 806303 or 07838989629 to discuss starting their own music or community-focused shows.

This growth comes after the area lost its dedicated local commercial station in 2020, leaving a need for more community-led broadcasting. The station currently features local bands and hosts events like summer dance parties on the Comedy Carpet at the Tower Headland.

The station was officially set up as a private limited company on 29 May 2024 and currently has a team of around 15 presenters. These members host a variety of programmes, including specialist music shows focusing on soul, funk, and hits from the 1970s and 1980s.
