Two Daily Bus Journeys Cancelled in Colchester

KonectBuses has cancelled two daily trips between Colchester and Clacton-on-Sea in Essex since 26 March 2026 due to a vehicle issue. The operator has removed the 10:22 morning trip from Clacton into Colchester and the 11:35 return journey from the city to Elmstead after reporting a problem with a bus. This change affects residents who rely on these routes for work, university, and medical appointments.

The cuts affect Route 74 and Route 76, which serve as the main public transport links between the coast and the city. These routes normally provide a bus every 30 minutes and stop at the University of Essex. No replacement services are planned for the cancelled journeys, meaning passengers must find other ways to travel at those specific times.

The bus company is owned by Transport Made Simple, which took over the local operations in October 2025. While Essex County Council pays for about 15 per cent of bus services in the region, there is currently no plan to fill the gaps left by these cancellations.

The removal of these trips comes as the operator deals with other travel disruptions across the county, including road closures. Route 74 travels through St Osyth and Alresford, while Route 76 goes through Weeley to reach the city centre. Passengers are encouraged to check for further updates before they travel.
