Watford Football Club is inviting local residents to its third annual free menopause awareness event at Vicarage Road Stadium on Thursday, April 23, 2026. The ‘Make Menopause Matter’ event, open to everyone in the community, forms part of the club’s ongoing commitment to supporting women’s health and wellbeing in Watford.
The evening will feature expert speakers including Diane Danzebrink, founder of Menopause Support UK and the national #MakeMenopauseMatter campaign. Danzebrink, a trained menopause nurse and author, has been a regular speaker at Watford FC’s menopause events in recent years, helping to raise awareness of an issue that affects half the population but has historically been under-discussed.
Watford Borough Council is working alongside the club to make Watford a Menopause-Friendly Town. As part of this ambition, the council has made 32,000 ‘Understanding Menopause’ booklets available to women in Watford, one for every home, funded through a memorial fundraising campaign led by Martin Weatherilt and his family following the tragic death of his wife Annette.
The event is being organised jointly by Watford FC and its Community Sports & Education Trust, which has been supporting local people and communities for over thirty years. Dave Messenger, the club’s Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Lead, is closely involved in arranging the event.
“Watford Football Club, together with our Community, Sports & Education Trust, are pleased to announce the third ‘Make Menopause Matter’ event,” the club said in its announcement.
The event builds on previous highly successful gatherings that have attracted over 150 attendees and brought together healthcare professionals, council representatives and menopause campaigners. Tickets are available via the club’s website.
