Morecambe town centre is set to introduce a new warden role to help keep the area safe and support local high street businesses. The Morecambe Business Improvement District announced on 26 March 2026 that it has secured funding for the position, which aims to create a more welcoming environment for everyone who lives, works, or visits the town.
The new warden will be responsible for patrolling key areas, providing support to shops, and reporting issues like littering or anti-social behaviour. This initiative is part of the wider Safe Morecambe programme, which works alongside the police and local council to improve town centre safety through measures such as CCTV and better lighting.
This role is currently established as a fixed-term contract running until February 2027. The project was made possible with support from Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw and Lizzi Collinge, the Member of Parliament for Morecambe and Lunesdale.
