The Crystal Leisure Centre in Stourbridge has reopened its swimming facilities following the completion of essential boiler maintenance. The centre, which serves residents across the borough including those in Kingswinford, finished the repairs ahead of schedule in time for the Easter holidays.
The leisure pool reopened to the public at 12pm on Friday 27 March 2026, with the 25-metre pool and the soft play area following on Monday 30 March 2026. The facility had been closed for approximately four weeks since 2 March 2026 while contractors addressed the boiler system.
According to DB Leisure, which manages the site on behalf of Dudley Metropolitan Borough Council, the work has helped improve water and air temperatures for swimmers. The upgrades are also intended to make the centre more energy efficient. Swimming lessons are set to resume the week commencing 13 April 2026, and the centre has confirmed that all lesson credits remain valid and were not used during the closure.
The Crystal Leisure Centre, which first opened in March 1990 and is named after the area’s history of glassmaking, is expected to see further upgrades. The council has brought forward plans to replace the centre’s roof and mechanical plant into the 2026/27 budget. These improvements follow a previous 4.1 million pound refurbishment completed in 2021 by Speller Metcalfe, which updated the pool areas and changing rooms.
