Families looking for outdoor activities in Ipswich can visit an assault course at Suffolk Food Hall throughout the upcoming Easter holidays. The course is open for weekday sessions from 30 March until 10 April 2026, offering an opportunity for both children and adults to get active outdoors.

The facility, known as The Playground, is situated at the food hall site in Wherstead, located just south of the town under the Orwell Bridge. The course winds along the banks of the River Orwell and features a 1km track with 30 different obstacles. It is designed for participants aged five and over.

In addition to the main assault course, the site includes a 50-metre two-lane obstacle sprint track, a boot camp zone, axe-throwing, and laser tag. The managing director of the operator, Nick Smith, has highlighted the importance of providing spaces for children and adults to enjoy the fresh air and physical activity.

Pay-and-play sessions are available at £16.24 per person, providing 80 minutes of access to the obstacles. Those interested in regular use can also purchase an annual membership for £95.00, plus a booking fee of £4.56. Following its opening in May 2025, this location became the third site for the company, which has welcomed more than 100,000 people to its courses over the last ten years.

Visitors to the site can also make use of the existing amenities at the Suffolk Food Hall, which has served the area since 2007. The destination includes a farm shop, restaurant, café, and other local food services.
