Simi Adebanjo from Canon Slade Sixth Form and Jasmine Kwok from Loreto College have been elected as the new Youth Members of Parliament for Bolton following a record-breaking election. A total of 22,875 votes were cast by young people across the town to choose their new representatives.

The election process, which began in October 2025, saw 10 candidates take part in a selection and training programme before the final vote. Jasmine Kwok received the highest number of votes with 3,605, while Simi Adebanjo followed with 3,454 votes.

The new representatives will serve two-year terms, acting on behalf of local young people. Their responsibilities include working on regional and national campaigns and participating in debates at the House of Commons.

The programme is managed by Bolton Council to ensure that the voices of young residents are heard on matters like education, the environment, and community issues.

Councillor Martin Donaghy, the council’s Executive Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, highlighted the importance of the initiative. He noted that the programme ensures young people have a platform to express their views on a range of important topics. The newly elected duo takes over from outgoing representatives Muhammed Ammaar Nasir and Shalom Wondiam.
