A 27-year-old man has died following an industrial incident in Bootle that is now the subject of a joint investigation by authorities. Yasen Sharif, who was pursuing a Masters Degree in Artificial Intelligence and Robotics at Liverpool John Moores University, passed away on Saturday 28 March 2026 after suffering serious injuries at his workplace earlier in the week.
Emergency services were called to a third-party operated warehouse at Primrose Business Park on Rimrose Road at the Port of Liverpool at approximately 12pm on Wednesday 25 March 2026. The North West Air Ambulance Charity also attended the scene after receiving a call at about 11:45am. Mr Sharif was taken to hospital, where he remained until his death.
The Merseyside Police and the Health and Safety Executive are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. Operations at the affected warehouse location have been suspended until further notice. A Home Office post-mortem examination is taking place on Monday 30 March 2026, and a report will be prepared for the coroner.
