Residents in Banbury should prepare for a wet and windy Easter weekend, as the Met Office warns that unsettled weather will impact the area from Friday 3 April through Monday 6 April 2026.

Conditions are expected to deteriorate on Friday, with light rain developing and wind gusts reaching 33mph. The unsettled weather continues through the holiday, with Easter Saturday set to be the windiest day of the weekend as gusts are expected to climb to 43mph.

Wind speeds will ease slightly to 34mph on Easter Sunday and Monday. However, Sunday will be the coldest day of the weekend, with a high of 11°C and a low of 3°C. Due to the wind chill, the temperature may feel like 7°C during the day and as low as 1°C at night.

Light rain is expected throughout the holiday, with the highest chance of precipitation reaching 60% on Monday and Friday afternoons. Met Office Deputy Chief Meteorologist Steven Keates noted a strong signal for these wet and windy conditions to persist throughout the period.

Oxfordshire County Council has advised that high winds and severe weather can lead to travel disruption. Residents are encouraged to monitor local road conditions if they are planning to travel over the bank holiday weekend.
