Clacton-on-Sea families are set for a busy school break as Clacton Pier kicks off its annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Running from 28 March to 12 April 2026, the event features daily rides and special activities across the site, which is recognised as Europe’s largest pleasure pier.
A key highlight this year includes daily appearances by the pier’s giant Easter Bunny, named Bruff. Children can meet the character at 11am and 3pm inside Discovery Bay, the pier’s indoor soft play centre. Visitors can also take part in a daily Golden Egg competition, where the first person to find a hidden egg each day wins an annual rides pass worth £60.
The pier, which was named Pier of the Year in 2020 by the National Piers Society, is expected to see a significant rise in visitors over the bank holiday weekend from 3 April to 6 April 2026. General manager Harry Peek noted that this period is traditionally one of the busiest times of the year, second only to the August bank holiday. To manage the expected crowds, the attraction has recruited additional staff.
During the bank holiday weekend, the pier will offer extended ride hours to accommodate families, staying open until 8pm on Good Friday and Easter Saturday, and until 10pm on Easter Sunday. The attraction has been owned and operated by brothers Billy and Elliot Ball since they purchased it in 2009.
