Households in Southend-on-Sea that usually have their bins collected on a Friday will have their pick-up moved to Saturday 4 April 2026 due to the Easter bank holiday. Southend-on-Sea City Council confirmed that this is the only change to the collection schedule during the Easter period.

The adjustment affects households on Friday collection routes, which cover approximately a quarter of the city. Residents are reminded to leave their bins out on the inside edge of their property by 7am on the revised collection day. While collections are expected to be carried out between 7am and 6pm, the council notes that some collections may take place later in the day due to operational reasons.

This service is part of the city’s updated waste management system, which launched in October 2025 in partnership with SUEZ. The initiative, supported by a £144 million eight-year contract, saw around 60,000 properties transition from sack collections to wheelie bins. Residents can verify their specific collection details by visiting the council website or using the official waste collection app.
