The Christopher Turley Armed Forces Community Hub in Dawley is inviting armed forces personnel, veterans, and their families to a free Easter Egg-stravaganza on Wednesday 8 April 2026. Taking place from 3pm to 6pm, the event offers a range of family-friendly activities at the centre located at Dawley House, 22 Burton Street.

Attendees can take part in Easter-themed crafts and an interactive quiz designed to help families find the secret location of the Easter Bunny. The afternoon also includes animal handling sessions where children and adults can meet a variety of creatures, including rabbits, gerbils, pygmy hedgehogs, and a tenrec. A pizza tea will be provided for guests from 5pm to 6pm.

Councillor Paul Davis, Telford & Wrekin Council‘s Cabinet Member with responsibility for the Armed Forces, said the event is a great way to bring the community together in a relaxed setting. The hub is a partnership project involving the local council, Great Dawley Town Council, and the mental health charity Telford Mind.

The community space was officially opened in October 2025 and is named in honour of the late Chris Turley, a former councillor who served 22 years in the armed forces. The hub recently received £670,709 in government funding from the Ministry of Defence, which will allow the centre to extend its opening hours and improve access to essential support services, including help with housing, employment, and mental health.
