Residents in Thorpe St Andrew should prepare for a windy Easter weekend as Storm Dave moves across the country. According to the Met Office, the storm is the fourth named weather system of the 2025/2026 season and is expected to bring wet and breezy conditions to Norfolk.

Saturday will start mild with temperatures reaching 17°C, though conditions will turn windier with gusts of up to 41mph expected. Sunday will bring cooler temperatures of 12°C with sunny intervals, though wind gusts may increase slightly to 43mph. While the most severe weather is expected in the northern parts of the UK, local residents are advised to remain cautious as typical wind speeds in this area are generally much lower, averaging around 10 mph.

The AA and RAC have issued guidance noting that driving conditions can become potentially hazardous when wind speeds reach 30-45 mph. Those travelling by road throughout the weekend should be aware of these potential difficulties, particularly when driving on exposed routes. National Highways also provides advice for staying safe during periods of strong winds.

Storm Dave was named following a public nomination, with the name submitted by a member of the public who humorously noted their husband could snore three times louder than any storm. The weather is expected to clear by Sunday evening, with drier and more settled conditions anticipated for Easter Monday.
