Residents in Bolton are being advised to prepare for high winds this weekend as the Met Office tracks the arrival of Storm Dave. A yellow wind warning is in effect from 5pm on Saturday 4 April until 7am on Sunday 5 April 2026, with forecasters expecting wind gusts to reach up to 49mph in the area.

Storm Dave is the fourth named storm of 2026 and is moving across the UK as a rapidly deepening low-pressure system. While the most severe weather is expected to affect Scotland overnight on Saturday, the system will bring significant disruption to northern parts of the country before clearing into the North Sea on Sunday morning.

Travel may be affected across road and rail networks during the Saturday evening and overnight period, and officials suggest that drivers of high-sided vehicles take extra care on exposed routes. There is also a slight possibility of power cuts that could impact mobile phone signals, as well as a small chance of minor building damage, such as loose roof tiles.

Conditions are expected to improve significantly once the storm passes. Residents can look forward to a calmer start to the week, with sunny, dry weather and temperatures forecast to reach 19°C by Tuesday.
