The annual World Food Festival is returning to Welwyn Garden City town centre on Saturday 9 May and Sunday 10 May 2026, bringing a variety of global cuisines and entertainment to the community.

Organised by the Wonderful Welwyn Garden City Business Improvement District, the free-to-attend event will take place on Howardsgate between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM on both days. The festival, which has been a regular feature on the town calendar since 2017, is funded by local businesses to encourage community engagement and support the local economy.

Visitors can look forward to this year’s edition, which organisers describe as the biggest and best yet. New food traders confirmed for the 2026 festival include the award-winning Chicken George, American barbecue specialists Craft & Cleaver, Japanese street food vendor So Solid Sando, and the family-run Venezuelan food stall Avila London. These additions build on the success of the 2025 event, which attracted record-breaking crowds and featured over 40 different food traders.

To facilitate the event, Hertfordshire County Council has authorised road closures in the town centre. Access will be restricted from 06:00 on Saturday 9 May until 23:00 on Sunday 10 May 2026. Residents are encouraged to plan their travel accordingly while the town centre is transformed into a global food destination.
