Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash in Lancaster left two people in hospital with serious injuries on Good Friday, 3 April 2026. The incident occurred at approximately 6.26pm on Morecambe Road when a Chevrolet Spark Plus, travelling towards Greyhound Bridge Road, collided with a stationary Kia Ceed waiting at traffic lights.
The force of the collision pushed the Kia into a female pedestrian who was using the crossing at the lights. The pedestrian sustained a serious leg injury and remains in hospital. The passenger of the Chevrolet was also taken to hospital with multiple injuries and is currently in a serious but stable condition. The driver of the Kia suffered minor injuries during the incident.
Morecambe Road was closed for several hours while officers from the Lancashire Constabulary Road Policing Unit carried out an investigation at the scene, though the road has since reopened.
Sgt Bex Price, who is leading the investigation, is urging anyone who may have information to come forward. Investigators are particularly keen to hear from anyone who has CCTV, dashcam, doorbell, or mobile phone footage that could help establish the circumstances of the collision. Residents with relevant information or footage are asked to contact the police quoting reference log 989 of 3 April 2026.
