Dorset Police have launched a murder investigation following the death of a man in his 40s outside a cocktail bar in Bournemouth. The man, who was from Christchurch, was pronounced dead at the scene outside MyBar on Charminster Road at approximately 3am on Easter Monday, 6 April 2026.

Following enquiries, three men have been arrested on suspicion of murder and are currently in custody. The arrested individuals include two men aged 37 and 46 from Bournemouth, and a 34-year-old man from Poole. The victim’s next of kin has been informed of his death.

Detective Chief Inspector Nicky Jenkins, who is leading the investigation for the Dorset Police Major Crime Investigation Team, has appealed for anyone with information to come forward. Investigators are specifically seeking to speak with anyone who was in the area of Charminster Road between 12:30am and 1:30am on 6 April, or anyone who may have captured dashcam footage during that time.

An extensive police cordon remains in place on Charminster Road as the investigation continues. Residents should expect an increased police presence in the area over the coming days. The ongoing road closures have also disrupted local travel, affecting bus routes 5, M1, N1, and N5.
