Residents in Oxford can expect a brief spell of unseasonably warm weather this Wednesday, 8 April 2026, before temperatures drop sharply as the week progresses. The Met Office has forecast a high of 23°C for the city, which is approximately 10°C above the typical average for this time of year.

This surge in temperature is expected to be the warmest conditions seen in early April since 2020. However, the warmth will be short-lived. Chief Forecaster Paul Gundersen has warned that conditions will shift significantly by Thursday, as cooler air moves in to bring cloud and rain, with temperatures falling to 17°C.

The cooling trend will continue into the weekend. From Friday through Monday, the city is expected to remain cloudy and cool with temperatures hovering around 13°C. Due to wind chill, it may feel closer to 9°C for those spending time outdoors. Currently, no weather warnings are in force for Oxford.

While enjoying the sunshine on Wednesday, residents should be aware that pollen levels across the region are rated as very high. This includes very high counts of birch and high and high levels of plane pollen. According to Allergy UK, which provides support for the estimated 13 million hay fever sufferers in the UK, unmanaged symptoms can sometimes lead to the development or worsening of asthma conditions.
