Families in Peterborough can enjoy a variety of free activities this spring, as the Peterborough Family Hubs continue to host a series of community events. The initiative, which brings together NHS, council, and community organisations, offers a range of support and activities for children from birth to age 19, or up to age 25 for young people with special educational needs.

The local events are designed to be accessible to all, with no booking required for those wishing to attend. Following earlier spring highlights such as an Easter Egg Hunt and an Airport Alien Show, more events are set to take place throughout May and June. These gatherings form part of a broader effort to provide a one-stop shop for family support services across the city.

The programme has seen significant engagement, with staff at the hubs delivering approximately 25,000 face-to-face sessions last year, marking a 17.5 per cent increase compared to the previous year. To support this ongoing service, Peterborough City Council received £1.3m in central government funding to continue operations through March 2026.

While the family hubs focus on children and young people, other local organisations continue to provide essential support for the wider community. For instance, Care Network Cambridgeshire offers free assistance to adults over the age of 18. Their services focus on health and wellbeing, including practical help at home and one-to-one support for those experiencing anxiety or low mood, helping to improve confidence and community connection for residents.
