Residents living in the Furzton South Ward have until 27 April 2026 to request a formal by-election to fill a vacant seat on the Shenley Brook End & Tattenhoe Parish Council.

A casual vacancy has been announced for the ward, which is part of the largest parish in Milton Keynes, serving nearly 25,000 people. Under local electoral rules, if at least ten residents submit a written request to the Returning Officer by the deadline, a by-election must be held to fill the position.

Those wishing to submit a request should contact the Returning Officer at Milton Keynes City Council, located at Civic, 1 Saxon Gate East, Milton Keynes MK9 3EJ. If fewer than ten requests are received by the deadline, the parish council may fill the vacancy through co-option.

This vacancy notice coincides with wider changes to local governance in the area. On 7 May 2026, voters across the city will participate in local elections where every one of the 60 council seats will be contested under new ward boundaries. These changes, overseen by the Local Government Boundary Commission, have increased the number of wards in the city to 21.
