Residents in Swadlincote are being invited to meet with local officers next week to discuss safety concerns and policing in their area. The Gresley, Woodville and Swadlincote Safer Neighbourhood Team is hosting two drop-in sessions to allow the public to speak directly with the police about matters affecting their community.

The first event, a street meet, will take place on Monday 13 April from 5pm to 6pm at the Aldi Hepworth Retail Park. This will be followed by a community catch-up on Thursday 16 April from 10am to 11am at Forever Mobility on West Street.

These sessions are part of a series of events planned throughout 2026 to improve local engagement. Sergeant Adams, an officer responsible for the neighbourhood policing area, will be among those available to hear from residents. The team is currently prioritising efforts to reduce shop theft in the town centre and address anti-social behaviour in Church Gresley.

The push for more face-to-face contact follows the implementation of the national Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. According to the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for Derbyshire, this initiative aims to ensure every neighbourhood has a named, contactable officer and includes plans to add 35 additional neighbourhood officers to the force by March 2027.

Figures from February 2026 show that violence and sexual offences were the most commonly reported crimes in the area, followed by anti-social behaviour, public order offences, and shoplifting.
