Residents of Kirkby, can expect a period of unsettled spring weather this week as temperatures fluctuate significantly across the area.

According to the Met Office, daytime temperatures are expected to climb from 13°C on Monday to a peak of 18°C on Wednesday. This mid-week high remains well above the typical April average of 13°C for the surrounding Liverpool area. Following this brief warm spell, temperatures will settle between 15°C and 17°C throughout the weekend.

The week will see changing conditions, starting with sunny intervals on Monday mixed with a high chance of light showers in the afternoon. Residents should prepare for significant rain on Tuesday, with the chance of precipitation rising to 95% by late Tuesday night. Rain is expected to persist through Wednesday, accompanied by wind gusts peaking at 31mph. These winds are expected to weaken gradually to around 20mph as the week progresses toward the weekend.

Those heading out early in the week should plan for cool nights, with temperatures dipping to 4°C on Monday night. The Met Office has noted that feels-like temperatures could reach as low as 2°C on Tuesday morning, with the potential for frost in rural parts of the region. These fluctuating conditions reflect the typical variable nature of spring weather, often referred to as “fool’s spring,” where brief warm spells are quickly followed by cooler conditions due to shifting air masses.

This follows an unusually warm start to the month, which saw UK temperatures reach 26.6°C on 8 April, marking one of the hottest days in 80 years for that time of month. As always, the Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council manages local services that may be impacted by these changing weather patterns.
